Just a short rant…
So, because Hollywood thinks it needs doing, they’re remaking “The Crow“. You remember that movie starring Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee‘s son)? In case you don’t, it’s a movie about rocker who was murdered, along with his fiancĂ©. Eric Draven comes back from the dead to avenge their deaths. That’s it, in a nutshell. But the movie holds a special place in the hearts of many. It might be due to the awesomeness of the film or the fact that Lee died in an accident on the set, which made the film that much darker. For me, it may be a combination of the two; what I know for certain is that The Crow is one of my favorite movies ever. So of course, reading about Hollywood producing a remake kind of made me nauseous.
Every time I turn around, there’s a remake coming out. Is Hollywood so devoid of imagination and talent that it can’t come up with something different? I’d ask that they come up with something new, but I don’t think that it is possible…there’s nothing new under the sun, especially with movies. There’s always some influence from something that came before, but dang, you have to at least try to come up with your own ideas.
And perhaps the biggest joke in all this, is that it’s being reported that Bradley Cooper will take on the role of Eric Draven. Sorry, but I don’t see it…
But who am I? I could be wrong and this remake could be filled with awesomeness…I just won’t hold my breath for that.
What do you think? Is a remake necessary? Do you think Cooper could do well with this role? Can you name a remake that outshines it’s predecessor?

The Crow is one film that probably doesn’t need a remake because of what the original is and represents just as you said. Maybe 50 years from now. I think some remakes are coming a little too quickly after the originals. And I really don’t get some of the film spin-offs of old television shows.

They should really leave that movie alone. It would be disrespectful to his memory and career. The Crow is such a classic.

I totally feel you on this. This remake is disrespectful. Thanks for commenting!
